The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. They discussed issues of bilateral cooperation and sanctions against Russia.
Zelensky noted that during the conversation they detailed important issues, including the export of Russian oil. He emphasized the necessity to limit the supply of Russian energy resources to reduce Russia's ability to fund the war.
The President of Ukraine also informed Modi about the Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities, including the shelling of a bus station in Zaporizhzhia, which resulted in many casualties.
Zelensky stressed that India supports Ukraine's peace initiatives and the importance of Ukraine's participation in all global processes. Both leaders agreed on the need for a personal meeting in September at the UN General Assembly.
It is noted that earlier, US President Donald Trump imposed additional tariffs on imports from India due to ongoing purchases of Russian oil.
