- India, under pressure from the USA, is halting the purchase of Russian oil.
This was reported by Interfax Ukraine, RBC Ukraine.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports on the plans of Russia and India regarding the development of military-technical cooperation. From September 15 to 18, in St. Petersburg, there will be a fourth meeting of the working group of the Russian-Indian intergovernmental commission on military and military-technical cooperation.
This meeting will last four days, during which the delegations will discuss plans for bilateral military cooperation for 2025-2026. The main topics will include issues of defense cooperation, military training, and conducting joint exercises.
According to intelligence information, the program of the meeting includes a visit of the Indian delegation to the cruiser "Avrora". In addition, Russia and India are already cooperating in the production of the supersonic missile PJ-10 BrahMos. Another joint project is Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited, which since 2019 has been engaged in the production of AK-203 rifles in India for the complete rearmament of the Indian army.
However, in the context of military cooperation, India is also facing pressure from the USA. On September 6, US President Donald Trump announced the introduction of an additional 25% tariff on Indian goods due to India's continued purchase of Russian oil. This tariff became an addition to the already existing 25% duties that have been in effect since September 1.
The Ministry of External Affairs of India justified the necessity of purchasing Russian oil at the time when Indian oil refineries ceased purchasing Russian oil after the introduction of new tariffs. Companies are awaiting guidance from the Indian government.
