- Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan plans to meet with President Trump to discuss cooperation.
- Craig Barrett calls for an investment of 40 billion dollars for Intel.
- Trump demands changes in Intel's leadership due to ties with China.
Intel's CEO Lip-Bu Tan plans to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump after the latter's call to discuss ties with Chinese companies. The meeting will take place on September 11, 2025, and Tan hopes to discuss ways to cooperate between Intel and the U.S. government, emphasizing the importance of the company's manufacturing for national security.
Trump expressed concerns about Tan, labeling him "highly conflicted" due to investments in Chinese firms, which triggered a backlash among investors. Former Intel CEO Craig Barrett also expressed support for the company, calling for an investment of 40 billion dollars to revive American chip manufacturing.
Barrett noted that Intel is the only company in the U.S. capable of ensuring competitive semiconductor manufacturing at the level of TSMC, but it requires funding for technology development. He proposes that Intel's largest clients invest 5 billion dollars each, which would allow them to gather necessary funds.
In light of anticipated reductions in the workforce, expected by the end of 2025, Trump calls for changes in the company's leadership, while Tan is ready to seek compromises with the U.S. to maintain Intel's manufacturing capabilities.
