Crystal Palace Receives News About Participation in the European Conference League
- Crystal Palace is confirmed to participate in the European League.
- Nottingham Forest has received a place in the European League.
- The club is considering possible legal actions against the former shareholder.
On September 11, 2025, Crystal Palace received confirmation that the club will participate in the Conference League after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) upheld the UEFA decision to exclude the team from the European League. This decision was the result of a violation of the rules of multiple ownership, related to the former shareholder John Textor.
The club president Steve Parish expressed his discontent, stating that the decision is "a shocking injustice." After the defeat in the English Cup, the club was hoping to participate in the European League, but now they are focused on advancing through the qualifying rounds of the Conference League.
Crystal Palace is now focused on securing its key players, such as Eberechi Eze and captain Mark Guehi, as participation in a less prestigious tournament may diminish their chances of attracting lucrative transfers.
At the same time, Nottingham Forest, which won a place in the European League following the CAS decision, plans to activate its transfer plans. A promotion to the European League could bring the club £50 million in sterling funds, which would significantly enhance their budget for new signings.
Regardless of the setback, Crystal Palace has the opportunity to regain its first participation in European competitions since 1998, when the club last took part in the short-lived Intertoto Cup.
