- 63% of respondents consider Ratcliffe to be responsible.
The support group Manchester United held a demonstration against the club's ownership, which was scheduled for the opening day of the Premier League season. The protest, organized by the 1958 group, was set to take place on August 17 before the match against Arsenal.
The 1958 group had previously conducted several protest actions aimed primarily against the majority shareholders of the club, the Glazers. However, discontent has also spread towards Jim Ratcliffe, who owns 28.94% of the club and is set to take on executive functions in February 2024.
A representative of the group stated that Ratcliffe, in their view, supports the Glazers and is not a "savior." After conducting a poll, it became clear that fans' opinions are divided, leading to the protest being held.
The group's statement indicates that considering the diversity of the fanbase, it is difficult to find balance. Nearly 63% of over 26,000 respondents in the poll believe that Ratcliffe and his company Ineos should not be held accountable for their decisions. Meanwhile, 68% believe that they should be given more time.
