- The Cincinnati Open was suspended due to a power outage.
- The transmission was canceled, but the game did not resume immediately.
- Defending champion Daniil Medvedev was scheduled to play later tonight.
The game at the Cincinnati Open was suspended on Monday afternoon after a power outage in the area. Official confirmation of the suspension of play was received at 5:57 PM local time, approximately an hour after the transmission had stopped showing matches from the Linder Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.
Players continued to play until the start of the outage, when two individual matches were interrupted: Taylor Fritz from the USA was leading against Lorenzo Sonego from Italy 7-6(4), while Stefanos Tsitsipas from Greece was winning against Benjamin Bonzi from France 7-6(5), 2-5.
Transmission resumed around 6:10 PM local time, but the game was not resumed immediately. Utility provider Duke Energy confirmed that the outage occurred in the Mason area and in other parts of the Cincinnati metropolitan area.
Earlier this year, a similar outage in Spain interrupted play at the Madrid Open, suspending the tournament in the dark.
The game at the Cincinnati Open resumed approximately at 6:40 PM. Defending champion Daniil Medvedev was scheduled to play later tonight against Canadian Gabriel Diallo.
