Indianapolis (AP) — Head coach of the Indiana Fever, Stephanie White, announced on Monday that star guard Keytlin Clark continues to recover from an injury to her right knee, but has not yet returned to practice.
Clark has not played since the moment of injury, sustained in the final moments of the previous game against Connecticut on July 15. The team has already ruled her out of the match against Dallas Wings, scheduled for this weekend.
Currently, there is no clear information on when Clark might return to the court. According to White, Clark could improve her physical conditioning, but she is still not ready for practice.
Clark missed 19 of 32 games due to three different knee injuries. Indiana has 10 wins and 9 losses without her and has demonstrated stability in recent games.
The Fever also lost two other players: Sidney Colson, who suffered a rupture of the previous cruciate ligament, and Aari McDonald, who sustained a sprained ankle. Despite these losses, the team managed to secure a victory over the Chicago Sky.
To compensate for the losses, the Fever signed Odessa Sims, who has championship experience. Clark, who was recognized as the Rookie of the Year last season, averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game before her injury.
The Fever have a chance at the playoffs, having 18 wins and 14 losses, and they hope to continue their winning streak.
