SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle Kraken defenseman Riker Evans has signed a contract extension for two years, which carries an average annual value of $2.05 million and runs through the 2026-27 season.

Evans, 23, recorded 25 points in his first full season with the Kraken, scoring 5 goals and adding 20 assists in 73 games. He was selected by the team in the second round of the 2021 draft and made his NHL debut on December 7, 2023.

“Riker took a positive step forward in his first full season in the NHL,” said general manager Jason Botterill in his statement. “Since the transition to the professional level, he has shown improvement year over year, and we believe he will elevate his game to a new level next season. We are pleased that he signed the contract.”

This 6-foot defenseman weighing 195 pounds recorded 34 points in 109 NHL games. He also made his international debut with Team Canada at this year’s world hockey championship, where he registered two assists in eight games.
