A woman from Texas, Liana Davis, filed a lawsuit against the maritime pilot Christopher Kuprider, accusing him of pressuring her into taking abortion pills, resulting in the death of her unborn child. The lawsuit was filed in federal court on September 11, 2025.
Davis claims that Kuprider, who works in the city of Corpus Christi, provided her with abortion pills on May 5, packaged in a dark chocolate wrapper near ten abortion pills, obtained through the online service Aid Access. After taking the pills, the woman began to experience heavy bleeding.
The lawsuit cites text messages between Davis and Kuprider, which testify that the man repeatedly urged the woman to have an abortion, asserting that they were not going to continue the relationship. Davis, on the contrary, claimed she was pregnant.
The lawsuit asserts that Kuprider even threatened to testify against Davis in her custody case regarding three children she raises. When Davis requested the medical assistance she needed, Kuprider left her unanswered on two calls.
After the neighbor took her to the doctor, Davis learned that she had an unborn child, which she named Joy, not visible. The lawsuit also contains information that Davis found a package of pills, where one pill was missing from the pack.
Kuprider, Aid Access, and doctor Rebecca Gomperts, who founded this service, are being held accountable in the case.
