Saratov Oil Refinery Halts Operations After Drone Attack

  • Saratov Oil Refinery has suspended the intake of oil following a drone attack.
  • This is already the third refinery that has been hit this month.
  • Continued disruptions could lead to a shortage of fuel supply in Russia.

This was reported by RBC Ukraine, Ukrayinska Pravda.

The Saratov oil refinery, which belongs to Rosneft, has temporarily suspended the intake of raw materials following a drone attack that occurred on August 10. This was reported by Bloomberg.

This refinery, located in the Volga region, has a projected capacity of nearly 140,000 barrels of oil per day, which amounts to approximately 7 million tons per year. The drone attack has led to the suspension of operations at this third Russian oil refinery this month.

Disruptions in the refinery's operations could affect the supply of gasoline in Russia, especially during a period of increased demand for fuel. Rosneft's press service has not commented on the incident.

Drone Attacks on Russian Refineries

On the night of August 10, Ukrainian Armed Forces, with the support of other branches, launched an attack on the Saratov refinery, which is located approximately 600 km from the Ukrainian border. As a result of the attack, one person was killed, several were injured, and residential and industrial facilities were also damaged.

In addition, drone strikes also caused damage to two of the three main processing units at the Ryazan refinery, which led to a reduction in its production. Furthermore, Novokuybyshevsk refinery, another subsidiary of Rosneft, halted operations on September 2 following a drone attack.
