Elon Musk Plans to Sue Apple Over Anti-Competitive Practices

  • Elon Musk plans to sue Apple for anti-competitive violations.
  • Musk accuses Apple of favoritism towards OpenAI in the App Store.
  • Grok, Musk's app, ranks sixth in the app rankings.

Elon Musk, owner of SpaceX, Tesla, and the X platform, announced his intention to sue Apple. He accuses the company of not including his apps X and Grok in the list of recommended apps in the App Store.

In his post on X, Musk questioned why Apple does not list X, which is the most popular new app, and Grok, which ranks fifth among all apps, in the "Recommended for Installation" section. He believes this may be a political move on Apple's part.

Musk also claims that Apple's behavior hinders other companies in the field of artificial intelligence, besides OpenAI, from taking the top spot in the App Store, which constitutes a violation of anti-competitive legislation. He noted that xAI, his startup, is facing legal challenges.

Currently, the most popular app in the App Store is TikTok, followed by Tinder, Duolingo, YouTube, and Bumble. ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, ranks seventh.

Apple has yet to comment on these allegations, but previously the company has faced various accusations of anti-competitive practices, including from Epic Games and the European Union.
