Drone Strike on Monocrystal Plant in Russia

On the Monocrystal plant in the Russian Stavropol, a drone strike was carried out on September 12. Information about the attack was confirmed by Russian Telegram channels, including Astra.
According to reports, videos appeared on social media showing smoke and explosions near the main building of the plant. The mayor of Stavropol, Ivan Ulyanchenko, stated that as a result of the attack, windows were shattered in a residential complex and a municipal building, as well as several cars. However, according to his words, no one was injured.
Analyzing the footage, Astra indicated that the Monocrystal plant is one of the leading manufacturers of synthetic sapphire for optoelectronics. Synthetic sapphire is widely used in optical systems, protective elements for sensors and lasers, as well as in components for aviation and defense industries.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that during the night of September 12, 25 Ukrainian drones were intercepted and destroyed, three of which were over the Stavropol region.
