Russia Inflicts Strikes on Donetsk, Civilian Casualties Reported

• As a result of attacks on September 11 and 12, four civilians were killed.
• Residents of residential areas where the strikes occurred were affected.
• The prosecution has initiated an investigation into war crimes.

On September 11, 2025, Russian forces conducted an airstrike on a residential area in Bilozersk, Donetsk, using FAB-250 aerial bombs. As a result of the attack, two people were killed, including a 16-year-old minor who sustained injuries, reported Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The strike occurred around 22:55 Kyiv time. The explosions affected eight multi-apartment buildings and six vehicles. The injured received medical assistance for injuries that included blast injuries, head injuries, and shrapnel wounds.

On September 12, Russian forces again attacked, this time in the city of Kostiantynivka, using guided bombs FAB-250. As a result of this, two civilians were killed, who were staying at home, as well as damage to the facades of eight private buildings. Local authorities are urging residents to stay safe and, if possible, evacuate to safer areas.

Both attacks have prompted the opening of a criminal investigation under part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violations of the laws and customs of war). The prosecution is collecting evidence of war crimes committed against the civilian population.

Characteristics of FAB-250

FAB-250 is a Soviet high-explosive aerial bomb weighing approximately 250 kg, designed for the destruction of living forces and military equipment of the enemy. It has a powerful explosive charge, which causes significant damage over a large area. Such bombs are particularly dangerous, as they allow Russian aircraft to carry out strikes without entering the zone of Ukrainian air defense.
