In Europe, forest fires continue, forcing thousands of people to evacuate their homes. In Spain, during a severe heatwave that can reach 44°C, nearly 6,000 people have been evacuated from the north, center, and south of the country.
In the Tres-Cantos area, near Madrid, a fire resulted in the death of one person, and 180 people were evacuated. This fire, which burned over 1,000 hectares of land, was partially contained. In the Castilla and León region, more than 3,700 people were also evacuated.
In neighboring Portugal, large fires continue, and the country received assistance from Morocco, which sent two aircraft. At the same time, in France, temperatures exceeded 40°C, and 12 departments issued red alerts. In Montaigne and other regions of France, fires have also led to evacuations.
In Turkey, where temperatures are also reaching record levels, over 2,000 people have been evacuated due to fires in the province of Çanakkale. The fire has caused the closure of marine traffic in the region.
In other countries, such as Albania, Montenegro, and Croatia, fires have also erupted, prompting evacuations. In Albania, about 40 hectares were burned, and authorities arrested over 20 people on suspicion of arson.
