NBA 2025-26 Season Announced with Matches on NBC

On August 12, 2025, the NBA announced the start of the 2025-26 season, which will begin on October 21. For the first time since 2002, NBA games will once again be broadcast on NBC. The opening game will feature the Oklahoma City Thunder against the Houston Rockets, as well as the Los Angeles Lakers against the Golden State Warriors.

The Oklahoma City Thunder, last season's champions, will be represented by MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Houston, in turn, signed star player Kevin Durant. These games will not only kick off the new season but also mark the return of the NBA to NBC after a 23-year hiatus.

Also on the season schedule are important games on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 19, 2026, which will include four games on NBC and Peacock. In addition, Amazon Prime Video will provide coverage of NBA games for the first time, including 66 games of the regular season.

Additionally, on October 27, the "Peacock NBA Monday" program will begin, featuring a match between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Detroit Pistons. The NBA also announced traditional Christmas Day games, which will be held on ESPN and ABC.
