Joint Military Exercises of Russia and Belarus to Take Place in September

• The Zapad-2025 exercises will take place from September 12 to 16
• More than 13,000 military personnel will participate in the maneuvers

Joint strategic exercises of the armed forces of Russia and Belarus, known as Zapad-2025, will take place from September 12 to 16, 2025, according to information from the Ministry of Defense of Belarus.

The purpose of the exercises is to verify the readiness of the armed forces of both countries to ensure military security of the Union State and readiness to repel possible aggression.

More than 13,000 military personnel are planned to participate in the exercises. The first Russian units have already arrived in Belarus to participate in these maneuvers.

Moscow confirms that these exercises will have an exclusively defensive nature and are aimed at responding to actions in the event of a threat of aggression.

The Minister of Defense of Belarus, Viktor Khrenin, stated that the main maneuvers were to be held in the western region to reduce the threat on the western borders.

Meanwhile, the commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, noted that under the pretext of these exercises, there may be a formation of offensive groupings.
