Musk Plans to Sue Apple Over App Store Manipulation
- Elon Musk plans to file a lawsuit against Apple for manipulation in the App Store.
- He claims that Apple is violating antitrust laws.
- ChatGPT remains the most popular app, while Grok occupies the sixth position.
This was reported by NBC News, The Verge.
Elon Musk announced his intention to file a lawsuit against Apple over potential violations of antitrust legislation related to the ranking of apps in the App Store. According to him, Apple is trying to restrict other companies, including OpenAI, from reaching the top of the app rankings.
In posts on the platform X, Musk stated that Apple "rigs" rankings, excluding its chatbot Grok from the "Essential Apps" category, despite Grok occupying the fifth position among free apps. Musk asserts that this is a violation of antitrust norms.
Apple declined to comment on Musk's accusations. It is noted that at this moment, ChatGPT remains the most popular free app in the USA, while Grok holds the sixth position.
Earlier, Musk had already criticized Apple for its collaboration with OpenAI, stating that any company integrating OpenAI's technology at the level of operational systems should also be excluded from using Apple's infrastructure.
This is not the first instance where Apple faces accusations of antitrust violations. Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against Apple over its monopoly in the iPhone ecosystem.
