In Spain, large-scale forest fires continue, which have already destroyed thousands of hectares of land. In the Madrid region, a fire in Tres-Canos that ignited on August 11 destroyed 1500 hectares and took the life of one person who was trying to save horses.
According to reports, the fire was ignited by strong winds and drought, which contributed to the rapid spread of flames. After the outbreak of the fire, nearly 180 residents were evacuated from their homes. Firefighters stated that they had never seen such a speed of fire spread.
Residents who returned home discovered that many of their buildings had been destroyed. One of the residents, Adolfo Lopes, after inspecting the burned building of his parents, noted that he was happy that all had survived.
At the same time, in other regions of Spain, such as Castile and León, there have also been significant fires, forcing thousands of people to leave their homes. In Galicia and Andalusia, the flames threaten the lives and property of people.
The Spanish government has declared a state of emergency and activated resources for firefighting, involving nearly 1000 military personnel from emergency services.
Currently, residents of the affected regions may return home, but local services warn of the potential for renewed outbreaks of fire due to unfavorable weather conditions.
