Apple is preparing a new Live Translation feature for AirPods, which will allow for real-time conversation translation. According to a report from MacRumors, signs of the new feature were found in the beta version of iOS 26 Beta 6. The files for the translation program contain images of AirPods with the word "Hello" in different languages and a hint about activating the feature through a double tap.
Previously, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reported on the potential realization of such a feature. It may appear in the final version of iOS 26 or in one of the upcoming updates. Currently, Live Translation works in the applications Phone, Messages, and FaceTime, and its integration with AirPods would expand its capabilities for offline communication.
It is known that the feature will be available on AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4, and likely requires an iPhone with Apple Intelligence support. Additionally, users can activate translation by simply squeezing the AirPods stem at the same time.
