Increase in the Number of Migrants Crossing La-Manche and Its Reasons

  • Over 50,000 people have arrived in Great Britain since the beginning of the year.
  • The increase in the number of arrivals is linked to economic crises in other countries.
  • The idea of relocating migrants in tents does not solve the problems of migrants crossing La-Manche.

Since the Labour Party came to power under Keir Starmer, over 50,000 people have arrived in Great Britain, having crossed La-Manche in small boats. This coincided with a significant increase in the popularity of the Reform UK party, which advocates closing hotels that accept migrants.

Recent data from the Home Office indicates a record number of arrivals, exceeding 25,000 by the end of July. Labour blames this situation, considering it unacceptable, while Conservatives accuse the government of losing control over the borders.

Kemi Badenoch, the minister, promotes the idea of relocating migrants in tents, but experts warn that this will not solve the migration problem. Although it may theoretically be possible to establish camps for refugees, in practice this does not reduce the flow of small boats.

Labour is also facing criticism for its refusal to adhere to the deportation plan to Rwanda, which has proven ineffective. Some analysts believe that the increase in the number of arrivals may be linked to economic and political crises in other countries, as well as worsening weather conditions.

Keir Starmer aims to reduce the number of migrants arriving through an agreement with France, but this process takes time and resources. It is crucial for the government to make progress in resolving this complex issue to secure the support of the House of Commons.
