Ethan Guo, a 19-year-old American pilot and influencer, who aims to complete a solo flight across all continents, remains in Chile following his detention on a remote island in Antarctica. On June 29, 2025, he was charged with illegal landing and providing false information about his location.
According to an agreement reached between his attorneys and prosecutors, the charges were dropped on the condition that Guo would raise $30,000 for charity to help children with cancer over a period of 30 days. He also committed to staying in Chile and not returning for three years.
Guo had launched his flight to raise one million dollars for cancer research, sending his story to his twin brother, who is battling leukemia. His journey started in the fall of 2024 in Memphis, Tennessee, and he has already visited six continents, stopping in hospitals to raise awareness about childhood cancer.
At the time of his detention, Guo mentioned difficulties, including mechanical issues and poor weather conditions. Despite this, he continues his mission, hoping to complete his historic flight.
