Emma Raducanu is returning to New York with a new level of confidence in her abilities ahead of the US Open. After an impressive performance at the Cincinnati Open, where she lost to Aryna Sabalenka in the third round, Raducanu noted that she feels more confident and capable than in recent years.
In the match against Sabalenka, which lasted over three hours, Raducanu showcased her progress, despite the loss with a score of 7-6(3), 4-6, 7-6(5). She emphasized that this year has been special for her, as she has been playing more consistently, which has helped her improve her game.
Raducanu, who reached the pinnacle in 2021 when she won the US Open, did not advance past the first round last year after taking a break for training. This year, according to her own words, she feels more confident on the court and is ready for the upcoming big tournament.
Moreover, due to injuries during the tournament, several players have withdrawn, which could increase Raducanu's chances of success in New York. Her current ranking is 34, which may secure her a spot in the main draw, as other players may not be able to surpass her.
