Fred Kerley Received a Temporary Ban for Missing Drug Tests

  • Kerley received a ban for missing three drug tests
  • The sprinter's lawyer claims that he is not guilty of one of the tests
  • Duplantis set a new world record in pole vaulting

American sprinter Fred Kerley received a temporary ban from the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for missing three doping tests over the course of a year. Kerley, who won a silver medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020 and a bronze medal in Paris in 2024, stated that he intends to appeal this decision.

Kerley's lawyer, Howard Jacobus, emphasized that his client believes that one of the missed tests is not his fault. He noted that the controller did not take sufficient measures for his whereabouts.

Kerley, who is the world champion in the 100 meters in 2022, did not participate in any competitions since July 2025, when he announced his withdrawal from the American qualifiers in June, citing the need for recovery.

In the background of this, Swedish pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis set a new world record, clearing a height of 6.29 meters at the Memorial Istvan Gyula in Budapest.
