Mexico City (AP) — Allan Saint-Maximin begins a new chapter in his career, having signed a contract with Club America, one of the most popular football clubs in Mexico. The 28-year-old player joined the team on September 12, 2025.

Saint-Maximin arrived at Liga MX after a year of playing in Turkey for Fenerbahce, where he was loaned out from Al-Ahli club in Saudi Arabia. Club America, which has won 16 titles of the national championship, did not disclose the details of the contract, but local media ZMI reports that the agreement is set for two years and is estimated to be around 10 million dollars.

Saint-Maximin became the second French player in the history of Club America. The first was Jeremie Menez, who won the Apertura championship in 2018 with this club. The most famous French footballer in the Mexican league is Andre-Pierre Gignac, who won five titles with Tigres UANL.

Saint-Maximin, who previously played for the youth national team of France, started his career at Saint-Etienne, then played for Monaco, Bastia, and Nice, and in 2019 moved to Newcastle, where he spent four seasons. In the squad of "The Magpies," he scored 13 goals in 124 matches, but often suffered from injuries.
