Fenerbahçe triumphed over Feyenoord and advanced to the Champions League playoff

On August 12, 2025, Fenerbahçe achieved a stunning comeback against Feyenoord in the third qualifying round of the Champions League. After losing 1-2 in the Netherlands, the Turkish team won 5-2 at home.

The game started unfavorably for Fenerbahçe when, in the 41st minute, Tsuyoshi Watanabe opened the scoring for Feyenoord. However, the team managed to quickly respond: in the 44th minute, Archi Brown equalized, and in the 45+2 minute, John Duran put Fenerbahçe ahead. After the break, Fred scored the third goal in the 55th minute, and in the 83rd minute, Youssef En-Nesyri extended the lead to 4-1. Watanabe again started the scoring in the 89th minute, but Talisker secured the 5-2 victory in the dying moments of the match.

Fenerbahçe will now play in the Champions League playoff against Benfica, who defeated Nîmes with an aggregate score of 4-0.

Brugge also secured their place in the playoffs

The Brugge club, which won the first match against RB Salzburg 1-0, also managed to qualify in the second leg, winning 3-2. After trailing 0-2 in the first half, Brugge scored three goals in the second half, allowing them to advance to the playoffs.

Results of other matches

In other matches, Glasgow Rangers, Copenhagen, and Red Star Belgrade also advanced to the playoffs. Dynamo Kyiv, unfortunately, was eliminated from the tournament by the Cypriot Pafos, who won 2-0. Thus, for the first time in 19 years, the Champions League will proceed without Ukrainian teams.
