- Latvia has allocated no less than 2 million euros for NATO.
- The new PURL mechanism aims to centralize the procurement of weapons.
- Other countries also support Ukraine through this initiative.
This is reported by Ukrinform, RBC Ukraine.
Latvia announced the allocation of no less than 2 million euros for the NATO mechanism to procure weapons for Ukraine. This was stated by Latvia's Prime Minister Evika Silina after a closed part of the government meeting.
This initiative, known as the List of Priorities of Ukraine (PURL), aims to centralize the procurement of necessary weapons and military equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including anti-aircraft defense systems.
Silina clarified that the exact amount that Latvia will allocate will be determined later. This decision has become part of the overall support for Ukraine in its fight against the Russian aggression.
It is noted that earlier Latvia had already provided Ukraine with six Patria armored personnel carriers as part of logistical and material assistance.
Other countries, such as Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, have also announced their contributions within this program, which indicates increasing international support for Ukraine.
This new mechanism allows partners to transfer funds for the procurement of weapons, while Ukraine, in turn, compiles a list of necessary items, which will be sent to NATO for further assessment.
