Wrexham progressed to the second round of the Carabao Cup after a dramatic match against Hull on penalties.
The Welsh team won 3-1 in extra time when veteran Oli Palmer scored two goals, allowing them to level the score.
As a result, Wrexham won 5-3 in the penalty shootout after Joel Ndala converted in the previous round.
The game took place at Wrexham's home stadium, where the team played for the first time in a new season in the lower division after 40 years in the lower leagues.
Wrexham equalized in the 31st minute thanks to a goal from Elliot Lee, but Hull quickly responded, scoring three goals: Oli McBurnie, Ndala, and Meta Kruksas.
After Ndala scored, Hull seemed to be in control of the game, but Palmer, coming off the bench, scored two goals in extra time.
Wrexham's manager Phil Parkinson stated that the team showed character, not giving up until the end.
Palmer, who had previously struggled with his form, became the hero of the match, confirming his importance to the team.
Hull's manager Sergey Yakurov expressed mixed feelings, stating that his team controlled the game until the end, but lacked concentration.
