The promotion, which ran from September 9 to September 11, 2025, was aimed at children and included toys such as the small Pikachu, as well as Pokémon cards. According to reports from Japanese media, all sets were sold out on the first day.

According to data, purchases of non-essential Happy Meals were identified around the restaurants. McDonald's stated that it does not support reselling and intends to implement limits on the number of sets that one person can purchase. The company emphasized that the situation contradicts their philosophy, which focuses on creating a friendly atmosphere for families.

On the secondary market, Pokémon cards are sold for prices reaching thousands of dollars, which has sparked excitement among collectors. McDonald's Japan also noted that it is working on preventing the resale of cards on third-party sites.
