Kyiv's Dynamo was unable to progress further in the Champions League qualifiers for the 2025/26 season, having suffered defeats to Cypriot Paphos 0:1 and 0:2. The team will now focus on the playoff round of the European League qualifiers, where their opponent will be the strongest club from the pair Maccabi Tel Aviv - Hamrun Spartans. Matches between these teams are scheduled for August 21 and 28.
After the disappointing exit, the founder of Lviv's Rukh, Hryhoriy Kozlovsky, stated the necessity of urgent reforms in Ukrainian football. According to him, the system requires radical changes to avoid similar situations in the future. Kozlovsky emphasized that Ukraine urgently needs to reorganize the UPL to enhance its competitiveness.
Dynamo has become the second representative of Ukraine in the European League qualifiers, alongside Donetsk's Shakhtar, which will compete against Greek Panaikos. Both teams are trying to continue their path in the European cups.
