Dinamo's Exit from the Champions League Has Negative Consequences
- Dinamo finished its performance in the Champions League after a defeat to Paphos
- For the first time in 20 years, no Ukrainian team has reached the group stage of the Champions League
- Shovkovsky noted the necessity of strengthening the team for success in European competitions

Kyiv's Dinamo has completed its performance in the 2025/26 Champions League, losing to the Cypriot club Paphos with a score of 0:2. This happened in the second match of the third qualifying round, following a previous defeat of 0:1.
This exit became the first incident in 20 years when no Ukrainian team reached the main stage of the Champions League. The last time this happened was in the 2004/05 season when Dinamo lost to the Swiss Thun.
Also, after Dinamo's defeat, Oleksandr Shovkovsky, the head coach of the team, noted that the team needs significant strengthening for better results in European competitions. He emphasized that Dinamo currently does not meet the level of the European League.
Shovkovsky indicated that it is not surprising that Paphos won, and the team must recognize its shortcomings. According to him, Dinamo needs to work on improvement to achieve success in the future.
In Ukraine, at this time, no team represents the country in the main round of the Champions League, while Dinamo, Shakhtar, and Zhitomir Polissya will compete in European competitions next season.
