On Wednesday, September 13, 2025, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 struck the lower part of the northern island of New Zealand. According to information from the country's geological service GeoNet, the epicenter was located 20 km to the south of the town of Hastings in the Hawke's Bay region at a depth of 30 km.
The earthquake occurred at approximately 18:00 local time and was felt by nearly 6,000 people, who sent reports to the GeoNet website. Currently, there are no reports of material damage.
