This is reported by Ukrayinska Pravda, RBC Ukraine.
Belarus and Russia will conduct joint military training Zapad-2025 from September 12 to 16, 2025. During this training, it is planned to conduct exercises on the use of nuclear weapons and the Oreshnik system.
The Minister of Defense of Belarus, Viktor Khrenin, confirmed that during the training, the planned use of nuclear weapons will be practiced. According to him, this is a key element of strategic deterrence, as the Belarusian authorities consider the situation on the western and northern borders to be critical.
Khrenin also noted that during the training, Belarusian troops will practice using the Oreshnik system, which is a modern ballistic missile with medium range, capable of carrying both nuclear and conventional warheads.
More than 13 thousand military personnel will participate in the training. The first Russian units have already arrived in Belarus to participate in these maneuvers.
The Oreshnik was first used by Russia during the attack on the Dnipro on November 21, 2024, after which the Kremlin confirmed the combat use of this new weapon. Recently, Russian politicians regularly mention this missile as an instrument of deterrence.
