Trump criticizes the media ahead of meeting with Putin
- Trump accused the media of being biased regarding the meeting with Putin.
- Europe is concerned about possible territorial claims from Russia.
- A virtual meeting is planned to prepare for the negotiations.
This is reported by Ukrayinska Pravda, Ukrinform.
President of the USA Donald Trump expressed criticism towards the media for their exaggerated coverage of his upcoming meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, which will take place on September 15 in Anchorage, Alaska.
Trump noted that some commentators, including former advisor John Bolton, claim that "Putin has already won," which, according to the president, is an irresponsible assessment. He emphasized that the USA "is winning in everything" and does not trust information from "fake" media.
Meanwhile, in Ukraine, they are preparing for possible territorial claims from Russia during the meeting. Yevheniya Kravchuk, head of the parliamentary committee, expressed the opinion that the Russian side may try to create a rift between the USA and their allies in Europe and Ukraine. She stressed that the issue of territorial claims to the occupied territories of Ukraine is the most sensitive in the negotiations.
Kravchuk also pointed out that Europe is not interested in any agreements that would undermine Ukraine's interests. She mentioned that in case of any decisions that could threaten Ukraine's territorial integrity, it would create an unprecedented precedent for all of Europe.
In line with the reports, ahead of Trump's meeting with Putin, a virtual meeting is planned with the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other allies of Ukraine in NATO, to prepare the American leader for the negotiations.
Additionally, a meeting is scheduled in Anchorage on the day of the Trump-Putin meeting.
