On June 1, 2025, within the framework of the Pavutin operation, which was conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), specialized FPV drones were used. This was stated by the head of the SBU, Vasyl Maliuk, in an interview.
The operation became one of the most significant for the Ukrainian forces on Russian territory. Maliuk noted that to accomplish the tasks, 150 combat drones were deployed, which had a dual-component combat unit with a total weight of 1.6 kg.
The drones were equipped with "thinking buildings," which were fitted with solar panels and EcoFlow batteries. This allowed for uninterrupted charging of the drones even in cold weather, when the temperature could drop to -40 degrees Celsius.
As a result of the operation, nearly one-third of the Russian strategic aviation was destroyed, which consists of 41 aircraft. The operation included attacks on five airfields: Olenya, Belaya, Dyagilevo, Ivanovo, and Ukrayinka.
Maliuk emphasized that to successfully accomplish the tasks, it was necessary to solve various problems, including the import of sanctioned goods to Russia, including batteries.
