Gemini AI Saves Your Preferences for Personalization
- Gemini automatically saves your preferences for better personalization.
- The temporary chat function ensures greater confidentiality.
- Google is changing the settings for confidentiality in Gemini.

Google is introducing updates for its chat-bot Gemini, which will allow it to automatically save details of your previous conversations. This innovation will enable Gemini to pay more attention to your preferences, even without your request.
Previously, users could ask Gemini to save specific information, but now the chat-bot will autonomously use this data to provide more personalized responses. For example, if you previously requested ideas for a YouTube channel on Japanese culture, in the future Gemini may suggest creating content about Japanese cuisine.
This function will be activated by default, but you can turn it off through the settings in the Gemini app, selecting the option Personal Context and turning off Your Previous Conversations with Gemini. The updates are expected to gradually be implemented for model 2.5 Pro in selected regions and will expand to model 2.5 Flash.
Google is also changing its confidentiality settings. The previously named setting Gemini Apps Activity will be renamed to Activity Storage. When you activate this option, Google will use samples of your uploaded files to improve its services for everyone, starting from February 2. This setting for saving will be turned off by default, and even if you previously turned it off, it will remain off after the renaming.
In addition, Gemini has introduced a feature Temporary Chat, which allows conducting conversations that will not be saved in your history. These chats will not be included in the personalization in the future and will only be stored for 72 hours.
Thus, users will have more control over their data and the ability to maintain privacy during interactions with AI.
