Germany and allies are providing military aid to Ukraine worth 500 million dollars

Germany announced that, together with its allies, it plans to provide Ukraine with a military aid package worth up to 500 million dollars. This package will be implemented through a new mechanism of NATO, which coordinates regular supplies of weapons to Ukraine.

Earlier this month, the Netherlands announced military aid worth 500 million euros, which includes anti-aircraft defense systems, armored vehicles, and other military equipment. Sweden also confirmed its contribution of 275 million dollars to a joint initiative with Denmark and Norway.

The German ministries of foreign affairs and defense stated that the support is focused on critically important systems for anti-aircraft defense, which are urgently needed to protect against Russian air attacks. According to the UN, these strikes have resulted in the deaths of more than 12,000 civilians in Ukraine.

This month, two shipments of equipment are planned, with most of it being purchased in the USA. Germany did not disclose the names of the countries it collaborates with in this initiative. All supplies will be organized according to the priority needs of Ukraine on the battlefield.

Since the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Germany has provided Ukraine with military support worth nearly 40 billion euros.
