Considering the possibility of reducing sanctions against Russia

  • Ukrainian allies are considering a gradual reduction of sanctions.
  • They are counting on a 15-day ceasefire.
  • Italy is pushing for the inclusion of Europe in Trump's negotiations with Putin.

This is reported by RBC Ukraine, Interfax Ukraine.

Ukrainian allies are exploring the possibility of a gradual reduction of sanctions against Russia, which could be achieved through a full ceasefire. According to information from Sky News, there is hope for a swift 15-day ceasefire, during which sanctions would remain in place, and later a possible introduction of more structured pauses in combat actions in Ukraine.

It is noted that in the event of a violation of the ceasefire regime by Russia, sanctions could be reinstated. Officials from the Italian government stated that they would insist on having U.S. President Donald Trump involve Europe in his negotiations with Vladimir Putin during the video conference.

In addition, Italy emphasizes the need for clear military, economic, and political guarantees for Ukraine.

Thoughts on the reduction of sanctions

Earlier, Western allies reported on the possibility of reducing sanctions against Russia, including the lifting of restrictions on the Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream 2. U.S. Secretary of State Mark Rubio dismissed these thoughts, calling them unfounded.
