HBO Max Series "And Just Like That" Concludes Without Magic
- The series "And Just Like That" has ended after three seasons.
- Critics noted that the show did not reflect the magic of the original.
- The absence of Kim Cattrall filled the dynamic of the characters.
The series "And Just Like That" concluded its run on HBO Max after three seasons, which failed to replicate the success of the original "Sex and the City." The premiere of the original show took place in 1998, and it became iconic in culture, but the new continuation did not manage to achieve such an impression.
Main actors, such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon, returned to their roles, but critics pointed out that the characters did not evolve in accordance with their age. For example, the storyline of Carrie, who reflects on relationships with her ex, appeared unnatural.
During the show’s airing, viewers noted several moments that elicited laughter, but overall the show did not convey the impression of the older fans. Some critics believe that the characters reminded more of youth than of women who are approaching 60 years old.
It was also noted that the absence of Kim Cattrall, who played one of the main roles, filled the dynamic of the show. The death of actor Willie Garson was also treated unexpectedly, in the opinion of viewers.
Exploring themes of friendship and relationships, the new series aimed to preserve the connection with the original, but did not manage to include the same chemistry and dynamic that made "Sex and the City" cult-like.
