Harvey Weinstein faces third trial after verdict on sexual assault charges

- The court wants to conduct a hearing by the end of the year.
- Weinstein denies all allegations and has already been issued a verdict.
Harvey Weinstein, the famous Hollywood producer, is once again in front of the court in New York. His third court hearing will take place after a previous court failed to issue a ruling regarding the allegations in the case of Jessica Mann. Judge Manhattan, Curtis Farber, indicated that he wanted the trial to occur by the end of this year.
In February of this year, Weinstein was convicted of sexual assault against former assistant of the show "Project Runway" Miriam Haili, for which he faces up to 25 years in prison. However, the conviction did not lead to a single verdict regarding the allegations in the case of Mann, which became the reason for the new court proceedings.
Weinstein, who is 73 years old, denies all allegations. His lawyers assert that the interactions with three women were "transactional" and "consensual." During previous hearings, Weinstein already received 23 years in prison for the allegations in the case of Mann and criminal sexual acts, but this ruling was overturned by a higher court in New York, which called for a retrial.
Judge Farber also noted that he wants the matter resolved sooner, as it is important for all parties involved. Weinstein's attorney expressed a desire for the court process to take place in the soonest terms. If the trial occurs in the fall, it may result in the dismissal of the allegations against Weinstein, as prosecutors confirmed they are ready to present the allegations again.
