The game at the stadium of Tamworth was halted after 19-year-old Malysian youth player fell after a collision with a goalkeeper, attempting to save a corner.
Kone received medical assistance on the field about 15 minutes in, and after the break, he was taken to the hospital. It was later announced that the match was canceled with a score of 0-0.
In a statement, Manchester United noted that "the match was stopped due to the injury of the player, which was sustained by Sekou Kone, in the penalty area, and the player was taken to the hospital." They also confirmed that Kone is conscious, stable, and is being monitored by the club's medical team.
Kone was directed to the hospital for further tests. The club hopes for his speedy recovery.
In a statement on the official website of the Tamworth team, it reads: "Due to the medical situation we were forced to cancel today's match, details will be announced later. We wish a safe recovery to all fans, staff, and players of Manchester United, especially Sekou Kone for a quick recovery."
The senior team of Manchester United is set to head to League Two Grimsby in the next round of the Carabao Cup after the draw that took place on Wednesday evening.
