At the tournament in Cincinnati, Iga Swiatek, the third seed, reached the semifinals by defeating Sorana Cirstea with a score of 6-4 6-3. Swiatek, the Wimbledon champion, extended her unbeaten streak against Cirstea to 5-0. Her next opponent will be the winner of the match between Russians Anna Kalinskaya and Ekaterina Alexandrova.
During the match, Swiatek faced difficulties, earning 33 unforced errors, but managed to maintain her concentration. "It was important for me to be more stable than in the previous match," she noted.
In the men's draw, Jannik Sinner, the world number one, also reached the semifinals, defeating Adrian Mannarino with a score of 6-4 7-6 (7-4). Sinner quickly took control of the match, but play was interrupted due to rain. After the resumption of play, Mannarino proved to be a tough opponent, but Sinner managed to win in the tiebreak.
Among other results, Alexander Zverev defeated Brendon Nakashima with a score of 6-4 6-4, finishing a match that had been suspended due to rain. Zverev plans to return to the court to face Russian Karen Khachanov for the title in Toronto.
