  • Yesterday, Michelle Fox found a diamond in Crater of Diamonds State Park.
  • The diamond weighed in as the third largest found in 2025.
  • The search for the diamond lasted three days, concluding on July 29.

This was reported by ABC News, NBC News.

Michelle Fox, a 31-year-old woman from New York, fulfilled her dream by finding a 2.3-carat diamond at Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas. She was on vacation to this unique place, which is the only public diamond site in the world where visitors can search for and keep found gems.

Fox began her trip on July 8, 2025, and spent three days digging in hopes of finding the perfect stone for her engagement ring. On July 29, during her search, she noticed a shiny object on the ground, initially thinking it was just a piece of quartz. After picking it up, Fox realized that it was likely a diamond.

Park staff confirmed that it was indeed a diamond, a colorless and round gem, and it became the third largest diamond found in the park this year. Fox named her diamond Fox-Ballou, combining her name and her partner's name.

Fox stated that her experience in the park was not only about luck but also about hard work. She emphasized that while discoveries are important, physical effort is an essential part of the search.
