MacLean, 24, is the third-best prospect for the Mets and 37th overall in all of baseball. In 2025, he posted impressive results, with a 2.45 ERA in 21 games at the Double-A and Triple-A levels, with 127 strikeouts over 113.2 innings. His debut will take place at Citi Field against the Seattle Mariners.

This timing is a strategic move by the team, as the invitation will take place on Saturday, allowing MacLean to retain rookie status through 2026. This could also bring the Mets an additional draft pick through the program for young prospects.
