Washington — Former First Lady Melania Trump issued a demand to Hunter Biden to retract comments in which he associates her with sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein, and threatened to sue if he does not comply.

Trump denies two comments made by Biden in an interview with British journalist Andrew Callahan, in which he claims that Epstein recognized her with former President Donald Trump.

These statements are "unjust, defamatory, and very scandalous," stated Melania Trump's attorney, Alexander Brito, in a letter to Biden. According to him, Biden's statement was widely disseminated on social media and caused "extraordinary financial and reputational harm" for the former First Lady.

Biden made these comments during a recent interview, where he criticized the "elite" and other representatives of the Democratic Party, whom he considers responsible for his withdrawal from the presidential campaign last year.

The letter states that Melania Trump noted the "extraordinary financial and reputational harm" due to the repetition of these statements.

The letter, dated September 6, was first published on September 13 by Fox News Digital. Hunter Biden's attorney, Abbe Lowell, has not yet responded to the request for comment.
