On September 13, 2025, Breeze Airways, which was flying to Los Angeles, was forced to divert to Grand Junction, Colorado, due to an unruly passenger. The incident occurred during a flight from Norfolk, Virginia, when a man, who appeared to be intoxicated, began yelling racist remarks and waving a skateboard.

The airline, flight number MX704, took off at 9:17 AM and diverted to Grand Junction at 11:15 AM. According to police data, the passenger twice yelled racial slurs at crew members who were seated near him. As a result of the incident, several people sustained minor injuries; law enforcement did not report any serious injuries.

Upon landing, local law enforcement quickly detained the unruly passenger, after which he was handed over to the FBI. At this time, it is unknown what charges may be brought against the individual.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, in 2025 there were over 1000 reports of unruly passenger behavior, which is a significant decrease compared to the record levels of 2021, when there were 5973 such incidents.
