The Canadian airline Air Canada announced a complete suspension of flights on Friday, August 16, due to the flight attendants' strike. The strike began at the start of the summer travel season, when the airline typically transports nearly 120,000 passengers daily.

Members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, who work in the airline, went on strike over a dispute regarding wage conditions. Air Canada proposes a 38% increase in compensation over four years, but the union considers this offer inadequate.

According to the information, all Air Canada flights are to be canceled until Friday, and passengers will be informed about alternative travel options. The airline has reached out to other carriers for possible alternatives.

When canceling flights from the United Kingdom or the EU, Air Canada is obliged to find alternative routes for passengers. However, if the flight was booked from Canada, the rules protecting passengers may not guarantee compensation.

The strike continues over unresolved issues regarding working conditions, including pay for work before and after the flight. The union rejected the airline's proposal to resolve the dispute through arbitration.

It is expected that Air Canada will incur significant financial losses as long as the conflict remains unresolved. The airline hopes for a quick resolution, returning to full service may take some time.
